Street photography begins when we slow down the everyday rhythm of the city. As we walk, we start to notice small moments that appear and disappear almost by chance: a movement, a glance, a play of light and shadow, a little scene that lasts only a few seconds. We cannot predict these moments, but we can learn to notice them. Sometimes they suggest a story, sometimes they create an emotion, and in that instant we feel the urge to take out a camera or phone and capture what we saw. But often, when we look back at the image, something feels missing. The photograph does not quite carry what caught our eye in that moment. This is where the workshop begins: by working on the gap between what we saw, what we felt, and what the camera actually captured. The street photography workshop is a practical 5-hour session in Paris, with a preparatory Zoom meeting beforehand to go over the theoretical side and prepare for the shoot. The workshop is built around practical exercises focusing on observation, timing, composition, light, movement, and the ability to react quickly while still photographing with intention. It does not aim to replace a full photography course, but for beginners, photography enthusiasts, and street photography lovers, it gives you practical tools to better connect what you see in the street with the way you photograph it. I recommend taking the workshop at the beginning of your stay in Paris, so you can apply what you learn during the rest of your visit. Beyond improving your photography skills, practicing these ideas adds another layer to your experience of the city: walking with more attention, interacting with people you want to photograph, and thinking in terms of light, shadow, movement, and moment.
